“Teaching Italian Language & Culture in the Digital Age” Multiplier EVent

The Multiplier Event, entitled after “Teaching Italian Language & Culture in the Digital Age” was organized by the University of Macedonia on 11 July 2022. As part of the event participants had the opportunity to
discover the final outcomes of the PASTILLE project as well as to meet keynote speakers and panelists who have been discussing today’s challenges of teaching and learning the Italian language and culture in the digital age using advanced technologies.

"Week of Italian Culture" Multiplier Event

Description
From 20 to 25 June 2022, the University of Wroclaw organized the Multiplier Event entitled after "Week of Italian Culture". The event, organized in the framework of the Pastille project, was completely dedicated to Italy and to the Mediterranean Sea. The event was organized in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Krakow. Within the "Week of Italian Culture" the international conference "Mediterraneo – Crocevia di racconti" was organized from 23-25 June 2020 at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies.

Staff Training of the Pastille Project

Description
The Staff Training was aimed at presenting the methodological guidelines of the Pastille project and presenting the disciplinary assumptions underlying the Pastille project.
In particular, the Pastille project and its main outcomes were fully described and compared to other publications related to teaching Italian to foreigners.

A specific section of the Staff Training was entitled after “Inter-comprehension and Inclusion Module” focusing to the study of Romance philology as a discipline related to linguistic inter-comprehension, which is the basis of the Pastille Project. In addition, didactics of inclusion using Italian language for foreigners was discussed according to Vygotsky’ philosophy.

The "Material and Intercultural Heritage" section provided participants with the opportunity to develop a reflection on the cultural aspects of language learning. In particular, the organization of practical workshops made it possible to reflect on the interconnection between different European cultures and the concept of linguistic inter-comprehension.

The module on “Teaching Materials and Grammar” offered some practical applications of linguistic-cultural learning. The module focused on the contribution of the visual arts to foreign language learning and publications related to language teaching from an artistic-cultural perspective.

The final day of the Staff Training consisted of three practical lessons on topics related to Italian culture and language. The last day offered the opportunity to apply the methodological guidelines of the Pastille Project and to test the validity of the perspective chosen for the implementation of the project.

"Pastiglie di Italiano" Multiplier Event

The Multiplier Event, entitled after "Pastiglie di Italiano" was organized by the University of Vilnius, in cooperation with Istituto italiano di cultura of Vilnius. The event was organized on 14 June 2022. The Pastille project, and its main activities, was presented to all participants. During the second part of the event, participants had the opportunity to test the Didactic Units produced in the framework of the project.

"Nuove proposte per insegnare l’italiano" Multiplier Event

Description
The Multiplier Event, entitled after "Nuove proposte per insegnare l’italiano", was organized on 4 June 2022 by the University of Olomouc. The event was organized at the Department of Romance Languages, Faculty of Arts, Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic).

The Pastille team presented the outputs of the project. Jiří Špička, the local coordinator of the project, described the methodology, philosophy and goals of the projects and the typology of intellectual outputs. Eva Skříčková presented her Didactic Unit for beginners and her ideas how to use this Unit in language courses. Stefania Elisa Ghezzi did the same for her Didactic Unit for advanced students. Fabrizio Ruggeri showed digital application that can help the teachers to make the use of the Didactic Unites more attractive for young digital born audience. Alicja Paleta talked about specific uses and learning strategies of spoken and written Italian. Mara Salvalaggio presented a project of shadowing for Italian mother tongue students and students of Italian as foreign language that could support the autonomous learning using Pastille Didactic Units. Paolo Tabacchini moderated a round table about today’s challenges of teaching Italian. At the end of the day, some participants took part in a guided walk with the historian Tomáš Parma in the town centre following the traces of Italian history and art.

During the Multiplier Event, the Pastille project and its selected concrete outputs were presented to a wide audience. The project members showed the participants how to work with the Intellectual Outputs of the project, especially the Didactic Units. Guests from other universities followed up with other topics that can contribute to a more effective use of the project results. The event was not only an excellent promotion of the project and instruction on how to use its outputs, but also a general promotion of the teaching of Italian as a foreign language, and therefore of the support of the project target group (teachers and students of Italian).

"Medievalia Shakesperiana: Richard III" Multiplier Event

Description
The Multiplier Event, entitled after "Medievalia Shakesperiana 5: Richard III" took place on 4 - 5 May 2022 in Genova (Italy). 30 participants attended the Multiplier Event , which started with a detailed presentation of the Pastille European project held by Gianluca Olcese (University of Wroclaw), Sonia Maura Barillari (University of Genova) and Federico Guariglia (University of Olomouc).

The Multiplier Event focused on the figure of Richard III from an interdisciplinary perspective and through the Methodological Guidelines developed in the framework of the Pastille project.

In particular, the Multiplier Event aimed at highlighting the reception of Shakespeare's work from a linguistic and performing arts point of view.
The main discussed points were:
- the linguistic legacy of the opera in today's Italian and English.;
- the linguistic-cultural aspects of the drama and the link between language study and artistic cultural heritage;
- the dialogue between literary aspects of Richard III and the historical perspective of both the sovereign and the author of the work;
- the common heritage of European cultures, through the case study offered by Richard III.
